Why is Water Conservation
Important?
We cannot live without water. Yet many of us take our water for
granted, especially here in the Puget Sound region, an area known
for its rainy weather. With a growing population and changing climate,
demands on our water are increasing. This strains our existing supplies.
As a result, river and stream flows are declining, fish populations
are threatened, and water quality standards are compromised. It
is becoming increasingly clear that we must act now to ensure safe,
reliable water supplies are available to meet the needs of our citizens,
businesses and ecosystems.
This is something we all can do! Make water conservation practices
part of your everyday life. Teach your children to save water. Be
water wise!
The Partnership for Water Conservation’s Water Conservation
Resource Library is a clearinghouse for water saving ideas.
Within the links you will find tips and information to help you
save water. Though many tips are general in nature, this site focuses
on information relating specifically to the Central Puget Sound
Region. We have divided the library up into five main categories:
Under each category you will find a title, link and description for
each site. Sites are listed in alphabetical order. Many sites contain
information pertinent to more than one category. We have cross-referenced
them for you.
Water conservation is an exciting and growing field. The Partnership
for Water Conservation will keep abreast of new ideas and technologies
and add them to the library. Contact us
if you have questions, comments or suggestions for using the Library.
